KANO SENATOR ASSAULTED AT EMIR SANUSI’S DAUGHTER’S WEDDING OVER ALLEGED TIES WITH TINUBU

Senator Sulaiman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, representing Kano South Senatorial District, was assaulted at the wedding ceremony of Amina Muhammad Sanusi, the daughter of Emir of Kano, Muhammad Lamido Sanusi. The incident occurred when an elderly man attempted to hit Sumaila with his shoe, accusing him of dumping the leader of Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Kwankwaso, for President Bola Tinubu. Sumaila, who was elected under the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), has been criticized by members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement for allegedly having ties with President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). In his defense, Sumaila stated that it was Kwankwaso who initiated the relationship between all federal lawmakers from Kano State and the APC. The incident highlights the ongoing tensions within the political landscape of Kano State, with various factions vying for power and influence.
