MANCHESTER UNITED PREPARES TO SELL MASON MOUNT AS SUMMER CLEAR-OUT LOOMS
Manchester United is preparing to sell midfielder Mason Mount, despite manager Ruben Amorim previously describing him as “perfect.” According to former chief scout Mick Brown, Amorim no longer sees Mount as part of his long-term plans, paving the way for a summer departure. Mount’s future at Old Trafford looks increasingly uncertain, with the club closing in on a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha already integrated into the squad. Brown believes United will accept offers for Mount, citing the midfielder’s injury-hit campaign and limited starts. “It’s a shame he’s had these injuries since he arrived from Chelsea, because there is a top player in there,” Brown said. “United just feel they can improve in that position, and that may mean moving him on.” Mount’s potential exit would be part of a wider overhaul under Amorim, with Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho also linked with moves away. The reshuffle aims to free up space and improve squad depth ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. Meanwhile, United’s search for a new striker has led them to Juventus’ Dušan Vlahović, who is reportedly keen on a Premier League move and sees United as an ideal next step. His camp has already approached the club to open talks, and Juventus is open to selling to ease their wage bill. Vlahović’s price tag of around £38 million suits United’s tight summer budget. Amorim’s stance on Mount has shifted due to ongoing fitness issues and tactical shifts, despite previously praising the midfielder’s versatility. With new signings expected to take up similar roles, Mount’s future at United looks bleak.
