NIGERIAN ARMY ANNOUNCES MAJOR REDEPLOYMENT OF SENIOR OFFICERS

In a strategic move to enhance operational effectiveness and administrative efficiency, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the posting and appointment of some senior officers of the Nigerian Army (NA) to various command, staff, and instructional positions. The Director, Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement, noted that the redeployment cuts across Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the Army Headquarters (AHQ), General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of Army training institutions, Brigade Commanders, and other key positions. Nwachukwu stated that the reshufflement underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to ensuring a robust and dynamic leadership structure capable of addressing emerging security challenges. Some of the senior officers appointed as PSOs at the Army Headquarters include Maj Gen LA Fejokwu, Maj Gen GU Chibuisi, and Maj Gen AS Ndalolo. The newly appointed General Officers Commanding (GOCs) include Maj Gen OT Olatoye and Maj Gen EF Oyinlola. The acting appointments of Maj Gen AGL Haruna and Maj Gen IA Ajose have been confirmed substantive in the recent redeployment. General Olukede also redeployed other senior officers, including Maj Gen GO Adeshina, who is now the Director General of the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, and Maj Gen GM Mutkut, who has been posted to the Headquarters Multi National Joint Task Force Njamena as the Force Commander. The Chief of Army Staff has directed all newly appointed senior officers to bring renewed vigor, dedication, and commitment to their duties, particularly while ensuring the sustenance of the ongoing onslaught against terrorism, insurgency, and other threats to national security. The COAS equally charged them to ensure that the welfare of troops remains paramount as they assume their new appointments. MASSIVE REDEPLOYMENT OF TOP OFFICERS ROCKS NIGERIAN ARMY

Nwachukwu stated that the redeployment underscores the army’s commitment to a robust and dynamic leadership structure capable of addressing emerging security challenges in the country. Some of the senior officers appointed as Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the Army Headquarters include Maj.-Gen. Lawrence Fejokwu, who was appointed Chief of Administration (Army); Maj.-Gen. GU Chibuisi, appointed Chief of Civil Military Affairs; and Maj.-Gen. AS Ndalolo, appointed Chief of Training (Army). Others include Maj.-Gen. Olusegun Abai, appointed Chief of Transformation and Innovation; Maj.-Gen. JH Abdussalam, appointed Chief of Special Services and Programmes; and Maj.-Gen. EI Okoro, appointed Military Secretary (Army). Additionally, Maj.-Gen. OT Olatoye was appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division/Joint Task Force (JTF) South-East Operation UDO KA, while Maj.-Gen. EF Oyinlola was appointed GOC 3 Division/Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH). Maj.-Gen. AGL Haruna was confirmed as GOC 7 Division/Commander Sector 1 JTF North-East Operation HADIN KAI, and Maj.-Gen. IA Ajose was appointed substantive GOC 8 Division/Commander Sector 2 JTF North-West Operation FANSAN YANMA. Other redeployments include Maj.-Gen. GO Adeshina, who was appointed Director General of the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre (NAHFC); Maj.-Gen. GM Mutkut, appointed Force Commander of the Headquarters Multi-National Joint Task Force Njamena; and Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, appointed Director of Media Operations at Defence Headquarters.
