COURT OF APPEAL RELEASES NEW POSTINGS OF JUSTICES TO VARIOUS DIVISIONS, RETAINS WIKE’S WIFE IN ABUJA

The Nigeria Court of Appeal has released a list of new postings of Justices to various divisions across the country. The posting list, titled “Posting of Honourable Justices As At 22nd April, 2025,” was signed by M. B. Dongban-Mensem, President of the Court of Appeal. According to the list, Hon. Justice Y. Nimpar was posted to Lagos Division as Presiding Justice, along with other Justices, including Hon. Justice J. E. Ekanem, Hon. Justice F. A. Ojo, and Hon. Justice Abdulazeez M. Anka. The Justices are expected to report to their divisions by May 5, 2025. The posting list also revealed that Justice Eberechi S. Nyesom-Wike, the wife of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was retained in Abuja Division. Other notable postings include Hon. Justice M. A. Danjuma as Presiding Justice in Kano Division, Hon. Justice U. Onyemenam as Presiding Justice in Calabar Division, and Hon. Justice R. M. Abdullahi as Presiding Justice in Ilorin Division. Interestingly, Awka and Gombe Divisions had no allocation of judges. Appeals from Awka Division will be heard and determined in either Enugu or Asaba Divisions, while appeals from Gombe Division will be heard and determined in Maiduguri Division. The posting list also noted that Hon. Justices of the Ilorin Division “shall sit for one week each month at the Ibadan Division,” while “Hon. Justices of Ekiti Division shall also sit for one week each month in Akure Division.” This posting has no effect on special panels, which shall proceed as scheduled.
