FIRST LADY EMPOWERS 500 VULNERABLE WOMEN IN EDO STATE

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 500 vulnerable women in Edo State with various items under the Renewed Hope Agenda Initiative for Financial Inclusivity. The beneficiaries, drawn from the three Senatorial Districts of the state, were urged to make judicious use of the items to enhance their living standards and empower others. Senator Tinubu noted that the programme is part of a larger initiative to empower 18,500 women across the country’s six geo-political zones. “This programme acknowledges the vital roles women play in nation-building and also aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu,” she said. The empowerment items distributed included gas cookers with ovens, deep freezers, generators, and industrial grinding machines. The First Lady encouraged the beneficiaries to use the resources judiciously to grow their businesses. “These items serve as a platform for a better life as we pray that what you receive will grow in your hands,” she said. Governor Monday Okpebholo, represented by his Special Adviser on Media Projects, Godswill Inegbe, thanked the President and the First Lady for their visionary leadership and unwavering support for the people and government of Edo State. “The commitment to inclusive development by the President and the First Lady continues to inspire hope and progress across the nation,” he said. The Governor assured that his administration will not leave any woman in the State behind in the collective journey towards building a peaceful, progressive, and prosperous Edo State. “We believe that when women are empowered, families are strengthened, communities flourish, and nations thrive,” he added. One of the beneficiaries, Faith Mbah, thanked the First Lady and her husband, as well as the State Governor, for the items, which she said was a big relief to her. “We will utilize the items to grow our businesses, improve our lives, and contribute to the development of the nation,” she assured.

In a message marking the occasion, Senator Tinubu acknowledged the unique potential and skills of individuals with ASD, stressing that neurodiversity is a “beautiful testament to human uniqueness.” She noted that despite this, many individuals with autism continue to face discrimination in accessing quality education, healthcare, employment, and social acceptance. This year’s theme, “Advancing Neurodiversity and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” underscores the importance of considering the needs of individuals with autism in achieving sustainable development. Senator Tinubu encouraged Nigerians to “embrace neurodiversity, advocate for inclusion, and work together to create a society where every individual has the opportunity to excel.” She specifically highlighted the need to achieve SDGs 4 and 8, which focus on access to quality education and economic opportunities for all. By promoting inclusivity and acceptance, Senator Tinubu believes Nigeria can create a more equitable society where individuals with autism can thrive.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has lauded mothers across the nation for their unwavering dedication and pivotal role in shaping society, in a heartfelt message commemorating Mother’s Day. Describing mothers as “the heart of families, nurturers of children, and pillars of society,” she emphasized their sacrifices and commitment to raising future generations. In her statement, Tinubu honored Nigerian mothers for their tireless efforts in balancing work and home responsibilities, particularly those overcoming challenges to provide the best for their families. “You are the unsung heroes, and your impact resonates far beyond what words can describe,” she said, acknowledging their often-overlooked contributions.  The First Lady underscored the critical role mothers play in national development, stating, “The future of our nation and the world lies in the values, wisdom, and love we instill in the coming generation.” She called for continued recognition of mothers as foundational figures in fostering societal progress. NIGERIA’S FIRST LADY CONDOLES WITH VICTIMS OF TANKER EXPLOSION

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed deep sadness over the tanker explosion that occurred on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, along the Abuja-Nyanya-Keffi Road in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The incident resulted in the loss of many lives and property. The Karu Bridge tanker explosion was a devastating incident caused by a tanker carrying fuel that lost control and crashed on the Karu Bridge, resulting in a massive explosion and fire. The fire rapidly spread, engulfing and destroying numerous vehicles, with reports indicating varying numbers of deaths and vehicles destroyed. In a statement, Senator Tinubu commiserated with the Minister of the FCT, His Excellency Nyesome Wike, the families of the deceased and injured, and the people of Abuja. “I urge owners and drivers of vehicles, especially articulated vehicles, to ensure the road worthiness and good condition of their vehicles before putting them on the road to avert a reoccurrence of such incidences,” she stated. Senator Tinubu prayed for the souls of the departed to rest in eternal peace and for their families and friends to have the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. She also wished the injured a speedy recovery. The incident caused significant traffic disruption and panic among residents and commuters. Emergency responders, including fire services and security agencies, were deployed to the scene to contain the fire and manage the situation. Investigations into the cause of the accident are underway. This is not the first time Senator Tinubu has shown compassion to victims of tragic incidents. Earlier this year, she donated N100 million to support victims of the tragic tanker explosion at Dikko Junction in Niger State.

FIRST LADY DONATES N100M TO DISASTER VICTIMS IN NIGER STATE

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), has donated N100 million to victims of various disasters in Niger State. The funds will be disbursed to 70 families at N1 million per family, while the remaining amount will be used to purchase food and other supplies. SSA Media to the First Lady of Nigeria, Busola Kukoyi, in a statement, noted that Senator Oluremi Tinubu commended the Governor of Niger State, Dr. Muhammed Bago, for his efforts in promoting agriculture in the state. “You have been doing a lot for your state and by extension Nigeria in the area of Agriculture. You should be proud of yourself,” Senator Tinubu said. The First Lady’s visit to Niger State was a private one, but she took the opportunity to check in on the victims of the recent explosion in the state. Kukoyi stated that the visit was a demonstration of Senator Tinubu’s motherly love and concern for the welfare of Nigerians. During her visit, Senator Tinubu also paid a private visit to former Military President General Ibrahim Babangida and General Abdulsalami Abubakar. She explained that the visit was to check on their welfare and seek their advice. “Whatever we do in Abuja will not be complete without coming to them. Ask them how we are faring and seek further advice. They are the Patriarchs of this nation,” Senator Tinubu said. The Governor of Niger State, Dr. Muhammed Bago, thanked Senator Tinubu for her visit and donation. The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Dr. Yahaya Abubakar, also appealed to Senator Tinubu to visit the state again to inaugurate more RHI programs, especially in the area of agriculture. Kukoyi noted that the visit was a significant one, as it demonstrated the First Lady’s commitment to supporting Nigerians in need. Busola Kukoyi further stated that Senator Tinubu was accompanied on the visit by the Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima.
