TINUBU STUMBLED ON AN OBJECT AND THAT’S NOT A BIG DEAL – PRESIDENCY
The Presidency has dismissed concerns over a brief incident involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his official visit to Ankara, Türkiye, insisting that the momentary stumble was insignificant and has no bearing on the President’s health or official duties. Reacting to reports circulating online, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, clarified that President Tinubu only momentarily lost his balance after stepping on a metal object on the floor. He stressed that the President neither fell nor sustained any injury. According to Onanuga, the incident has been unnecessarily exaggerated by some commentators. “The President stepped on a metal object, which caused a brief loss of balance. It was not a fall and certainly not a big deal, except for those trying to make mischief out of a very minor incident,” he said. He further reassured Nigerians that President Tinubu remains physically fit and fully in control of his schedule, urging the public to ignore attempts to sensationalise what he described as a fleeting moment. In a related update, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, disclosed via his verified X handle that the President proceeded seamlessly with his official engagements after the ceremonial reception in Ankara. “Following a stately welcome ceremony, President Tinubu moved straight into scheduled bilateral meetings with the President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and other top government officials,” Dare stated. The Presidency said the high-level engagements are aimed at strengthening Nigeria–Türkiye relations, with discussions focusing on defence and security collaboration, trade and investment, energy cooperation, and overall economic development. It added that the uninterrupted flow of activities during the visit reflects the robustness of Nigeria’s diplomatic outreach under President Tinubu and the growing strategic partnership between both countries.
