VICE PRESIDENT SHETTIMA TO LEAD NIGERIA’S DELEGATION TO 80TH UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States, from September 22 to 28, 2025, on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media & Communications (Office of The Vice President), Stanley Nkwocha, in a statement announced the Vice President’s schedule at the global event. Shettima will join leaders to commemorate the UN’s 80th anniversary on September 22 and participate in high-level general debates. He will deliver Nigeria’s national statement on September 24, representing President Tinubu. Stanley Nkwocha highlighted Shettima’s attendance at a Climate event hosted by the UN Secretary-General where Nigeria will announce new Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement. Shettima will also attend a high-level roundtable on Adequate and Affordable Housing hosted by Kenya’s President and engage in bilateral meetings. After UNGA, he travels to Frankfurt, Germany, for meetings with Deutsche Bank officials before returning to Nigeria. Stanley Nkwocha confirmed the Vice President’s packed itinerary reflecting Nigeria’s engagement at the UN.
