PESENTATION OF THE COMPILATION OF URHOBO OIL AND GAS FACILITIES, VOL 1 TO DISTINGUISHED SENATORS AND HON MEMBERS REPRESENTING URHOBO ETHNIC NATIONALITY AT THE 10TH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AT THE SENATE BUILDING, ABUJA NIGERIA BY URHOBO OIL AND GAS NATIONALITY (UROAGAN), THIS DAY, THURSDAY 27TH JUNE 2024
We are very glad to state very clearly that we have capable hands as our Senators and some capable members of the House of Reps representing the us, the Urhobos today at the National Assembly. It is our prayer that God Almighty should strengthen you for effective delivery of more dividends of Democracy to our people in Jesus name. Urhobo Ethnic Nationality in Delta Central Senatorial District, Agbarha Warri Kingdom & Okere Urhobo Kingdom of Warri South LGA, Uduophori and Odorubu Communities in Delta South Senatorial District, contributes so much to the coffers and Econony of Nigeria through the huge production of Oil and Gas without significant Development conmesurate to our contribution. Despite this scenario Urhobo remains a peaceful ethnic Nationality with pure commitment and loyalty to the Nigeria state and Projects yet Urhobo has been taken for granted, being shortchanged and marginalized but we as a people will not allow such act of deprivation to deter us from practising our age long traditional values of Nationhood. In this verified compilation, one can see the enormous contributions of Urhobo Nation through these active oil and Gas producing wells of over 350, over 15 flow stations and over 20 gas flare sites. One can now see very clearly, the reason why the lifespan of the Urhobo people at home has been shortened and crippled with a lot of diseases emanating from the polluted air and ecosystem. Inspite of these injustices, Uroagan is involved in the peaceful advocacy for an uninterrupted free flow of the oil in the oil bearing communities while canversing for proper development of the people and the communities of our Ethnic Nation. Infact, we do not have a corresponding positive impact from the Amnesty office. We are considered as not part of it. This is bad as our sons who disarmed in the amnesty phase 2 and 3 programmes are treated like slaves compared to their counterpart from other ethnic Nationalities. At NNPC and in all the oil strategic business units, namely, NPDC, NUPRC, NPIMS, NMDPRA, WRPCL, PHRCL, KRPCL, PPMC, NGMC, NGMC etc, we do not have Urhobos in any enviable office. Instead, casualization has become the portion of our People. We reject this in Jesus name. The federal govt should as a matter of urgency look into this in the interest of Federal Character, justice and equity. One of the injustices done to the Urhobo Nation is the unlawful counting and ceeding of Urhobo oil and gas facilities to Edo state at Mosogar and Idjerhe (Jesse) Kingdoms and the unlawful transfer of Ukpokiti Community’s facilities in Agbarha Warri Kingdom to Omadino in Itsekiri. These are unacceptable. They should be corrected. What is due to to Idjerhe, Mosogar in the Amaladi community and Agbarha Warri must be given to them. Urhobo remains the highest producer of oil and gas in Delta state and ofcourse we all know that Delta state remains the highest producer in Nigeria. Delta produces more than 34% of the crude oil and gas in Nigeria. What Urhobo produces is far more than some states yet we have extremely too little in return from NDDC and Ministry of Niger Delta in terms of projects and programmes in comparison to states and those who pruduce far less than us. This is very unfair and unjust to the Urhobo Nation. Ministry of Niger Delta has two skill aquisition centers in Delta South Senatorial District, one in Delta North Senatorial District and Zero in Delta Central Senatorial District. This is another evil against us. As if these are not enough, even the 13% Derivation coming to the Delta state Govt where 50% of the 13% meant for Desopadec for the development of the oil producing communities, the sharing formula of the 50% acruable to Desopadec has been politicized against Urhobo Nation that produces the highest. We are reduced to 21% instead of about 40% of this fund in line with the real production quantum. The call for the state government to reach out to the appropriate government Authority to give the real figure of oil and gas pruduction in every community in Delta state has fallen into a deaf ear. Under the Administration of Sen Ifeayin Okowas as Governor of Delta state, he took Urhobo monies of the 13% to develope his personal business empire and his community of Origin living Urhobo in abject deprivation. Till date, there is no official government document, neither board resolution supporting the sharing formula in Desopadec. Urhobo Sons and dughters working at Desopadec and and even the Desopadec board members from Urhobo Nation live like second class citizens compared to their counterparts or colleagues from other ethnic Nationalities in the commission. This is unacceptable. Today, the implementation of the local content act does not include the Urhobo People in the oil and gas critical sector. We do not even know whether its implementaion exist. Urhobo has a wide range of trained experts in the oils & gas, science & technology, Agriculture & health, Accounting, management science, law etc yet there are no Urhobos benefiting from the implementation of the local content act in Nigeia? We are heavily pained that PTDF, a government Agency responsible for the training of Nigerians to qualify as graduates, professionals, technicians and craftsmen in the field of engineering, geology, science and management in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria and abroad throught scholarships, has excluded Urhobos from this scheme which is yearly as if we are not part of Nigeria despite our very indisputable level of huge production of oil and gas in Nigeria. Frankly speaking, our souls & physical bodies are crying as we see names like Musa, Dajuma, Abdulahi, Emeka, Ngozi, Okafor, Ola, Seyi, Ade etc on the PTDF scholarship traning yearly without names like Oghenerukevwe, Omonigho, Ejiroghene or Oghenevwegba etc that are Urhobo people. We reject this sharp practice against the Urhobo people who are a mojor oil and gas producers in Nigeria. The sales of the Oil and Gas facilities in our
