NUJ JIGAWA STATE COUNCIL ESTABLISHES VETERANS COMMITTEE
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jigawa State Council, has announced the formation of a Veterans Committee under the leadership of Comrade Mati Ali, a veteran journalist and media strategist with nearly four decades of professional experience. The committee was established to harness the vast knowledge, experience, and insight of retired journalists for the growth and development of the Union. According to the NUJ Jigawa State Council Secretary, Comrade Aisha Ahmed, the committee will serve as both an advisory body and a mentorship hub, while also ensuring the welfare and continued recognition of veteran members. “The committee will serve as both an advisory body and a mentorship hub, while also ensuring the welfare and continued recognition of our veteran members,” she stated. The committee is tasked with organizing mentorship and knowledge-sharing programs between retired and younger journalists, and providing guidance on how best to integrate veterans into NUJ activities and honors. The following individuals have been appointed to serve on the committee: Habibu Nuhu Kila, Fahad Muhammad, Salmanu Adamu Rishi, and Muhammad Hussaini Kwalam, who will serve as Secretary. This strategic initiative reaffirms the NUJ Jigawa State Council’s commitment to honoring journalistic excellence and fostering a strong, intergenerational professional community. Comrade Mati Ali, who currently serves as the Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Honourable Minister of Defence, brings a wealth of experience to the committee, having previously held key positions within the NUJ, including Chairman of the Jigawa State Council and National Trustee.
