Tinubu Mourns With El-Rufai on Mother’s Passing in Cairo
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt condolences to former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai over the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma, who passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, in Cairo after an illness.
In a statement signed by his Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Hajiya Umma as a remarkable mother who raised children and grandchildren contributing significantly to Nigeria’s development.
“Nasir, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved mother. Losing a mother is a pain unlike any other, and no words can fully ease your sorrow,” Tinubu said, praying that the memories of her love, wisdom, and guidance bring comfort to El-Rufai and his family.
The President affirmed his belief that Hajiya Umma fulfilled her purpose in life according to divine plan and prayed that Allah grant her Aljannah Firdaus. Family, friends, and well-wishers joined in mourning the loss of the matriarch of the El-Rufai family.
