The Federal Government has granted approval for the establishment of Tazkiyah University, the first female-only university in Nigeria. The institution, located in Zaria, Kaduna State, is exclusively designed for women and may feature an all-female academic staff, setting a historic precedent in Nigeria’s higher education landscape.

Founded by Professor Ibrahim Maqari, Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja, Tazkiyah University is among nine newly accredited private universities recently approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC). According to Prof. Maqari, all profits generated by the university will be directed into a special fund dedicated to supporting orphans, underscoring the social mission of the institution.

The university’s establishment marks a significant milestone in promoting women’s education and empowerment in Nigeria. Plans are already underway to relocate its permanent campus to Kaduna city in the future.

Tazkiyah University’s unique approach to education and its commitment to social responsibility are expected to make a positive impact on the lives of women and orphans in Nigeria.
