PRESIDENT TINUBU HOLDS FIRST MEETING WITH NEWLY APPOINTED SERVICE CHIEFS
President Bola Tinubu has convened a meeting with the newly appointed Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, marking their first known engagement since their appointments were announced last week. The Service Chiefs, led by the new Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, arrived at the Villa at approximately 3:55 p.m. local time.

General Oluyede, who previously served as Chief of Army Staff, was appointed along with other top military officials in a sweeping overhaul of the leadership. The changes included Major General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff, and Major General E.A.P. Undiendeye who retained his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
While details of the meeting have not been made public, President Tinubu had earlier emphasized the expectations for the new appointees.
During the announcement of their appointments, the president charged them to, quote, “justify the confidence reposed in them by enhancing professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship within the Armed Forces.” This meeting underscores the administration’s focus on security and military effectiveness.
