Hayatu-Deen Makes Early Move As First ADC Presidential Aspirant To Pick 2027 Nomination Form
The 2027 presidential race gained early momentum on Thursday as Mohammed Hayatudeen became the first aspirant under the African Democratic Congress to officially pick up his nomination form, signalling what party insiders described as an early show of strength in the emerging political contest.
Hayatudeen collected his nomination form at the ADC national headquarters in Abuja, where he was received by a large crowd of supporters and party members, marking one of the earliest formal entries into the party’s presidential primary race.
The exercise was supervised by the ADC National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo.
Speaking after receiving the form, Hayatudeen said his campaign would focus on addressing Nigeria’s core national challenges, including insecurity, unemployment, economic stagnation, and the rising cost of living.
“This election must be about securing our communities, rebuilding confidence in the economy, creating jobs, and making life more affordable for Nigerians,” he said.
He stressed that his ambition was driven by the need to restore public trust in governance and reposition the economy for inclusive growth.
Party supporters at the event described the turnout as a sign of growing interest in the ADC ahead of its internal primaries and the 2027 general elections.
Political observers say Hayatudeen’s early move positions him as a frontrunner within the party’s emerging coalition structure, especially as opposition parties intensify preparations for what is expected to be a highly competitive election cycle.
The development also comes amid wider political realignments across opposition platforms, as aspirants begin to formally declare interest and secure nomination forms months before party primaries are scheduled.
The ADC is expected to continue its nomination process in the coming weeks as more aspirants are anticipated to join the presidential race.
