Kano Govt Commends DSS for Rescuing Abducted Kibiya LG Secretary

The Kano State Government has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for the successful rescue of the abducted Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area, Alhaji Hamza Durya.

Durya was reportedly kidnapped at his residence in Kibiya by gunmen who later demanded a ransom of N100 million.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the government described the rescue operation as a significant breakthrough achieved through swift and coordinated efforts by security agencies.

According to the statement, operatives of the DSS, Kano State Command, carried out the operation, rescuing the victim unharmed and arresting two suspected kidnappers who sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter.

The government praised the professionalism and dedication of the security agencies, noting that the operation reflects the effectiveness of ongoing strategies to combat criminal activities across the state.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was also commended for his continued support and provision of resources to security agencies, which has enhanced their operational capacity.

Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and security, the state government urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation is essential to strengthening the state’s security architecture.

The government added that it would continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety of lives and property across Kano State.
