President Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned recent deadly attacks in Plateau State and Kaduna State, describing them as barbaric acts that will not go unpunished.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President denounced the killings in Angwan Rukuba area of Jos and the attack on a wedding gathering in Kahir village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Tinubu said the attacks, which involved the killing and abduction of innocent citizens, were a direct affront to national peace and unity.

“Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village is a heartless coward,” the President said, warning that the perpetrators aim to provoke reprisals and escalate violence.

He directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down those responsible and also clamp down on individuals spreading misinformation capable of worsening tensions.

The President cautioned against narratives suggesting religious motives behind the attacks, urging the media to report responsibly.

He reaffirmed that security agencies are actively responding to the situation and stressed the importance of public cooperation, including adherence to evacuation and safety directives where necessary.

Tinubu also called for improved intelligence gathering and proactive measures to prevent further attacks, insisting that all abducted victims in Kaduna must be rescued without delay.

“I urge our security agencies to be more proactive in preventing these attacks by acting on early warning intelligence,” he added.

The President commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for their response efforts, while pledging federal support to restore calm in the affected areas.
