A United States aviator who went missing after Iran shot down an American fighter jet has been successfully rescued following a dramatic and high-risk military operation, U.S. officials confirmed on Sunday.

The incident began on Friday when an F-15E Strike Eagle was brought down over Iranian territory amid escalating hostilities between both nations. The aircraft’s two crew members ejected before the crash, triggering an urgent search-and-rescue mission by the U.S. forces.

While one crew member was recovered shortly after the incident, the second aviator remained stranded for nearly two days in hostile terrain, reportedly hiding in mountainous areas while Iranian forces intensified efforts to locate him.

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the successful rescue in a statement, describing the operation as one of the most daring in recent military history. According to him, the aviator; though injured, is in stable condition and is expected to recover.

The rescue mission involved dozens of aircraft, including helicopters and special operations units, operating under the threat of enemy fire. Reports indicate that U.S. forces faced active resistance from Iranian ground units during the extraction, highlighting the risks involved in the operation.

In addition to the downed F-15E, another U.S. aircraft, an A-10 Thunderbolt II, was reportedly hit during the same period but managed to reach safer airspace before the pilot ejected and was rescued.

The incident marks one of the most direct confrontations between the United States and Iran in the ongoing conflict, raising concerns over further escalation in the region. Analysts warn that continued military engagements could widen the war and disrupt global security and energy markets.
