At least 14 people have been killed following separate attacks by suspected bandits on two communities in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The affected communities, Rubuki and Yargalma, were invaded in the afternoon by armed men who arrived on motorcycles and reportedly opened fire indiscriminately while setting houses, vehicles, and food stores ablaze.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers operated for about four hours before leaving the communities unchallenged.

Residents told ARISE News that nine people were killed in Rubuki, while five others were killed in Yargalma.

The attackers also left at least eight people with varying degrees of injuries, who are currently receiving treatment at a medical facility.

The latest incident adds to the wave of violent attacks that have continued to affect rural communities in Zamfara State, where residents have repeatedly called for stronger security intervention to stem recurring assaults.
