Iran Confirms Receipt of US Response to Latest Peace Proposal
Iran has confirmed that the United States has responded to its latest peace proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, marking a fresh step in back-channel diplomacy between the two long-time adversaries.
According to Iranian officials, the response was delivered through Pakistani mediators, who have been acting as intermediaries in the negotiations. Tehran said it is currently reviewing the contents of the U.S. reply, though details have not been publicly disclosed.
The proposal submitted by Iran is understood to be a 14-point plan focused on ending hostilities within a 30-day timeframe, rather than pursuing a temporary ceasefire. It includes demands such as lifting sanctions, withdrawing U.S. forces from areas surrounding Iran, unfreezing Iranian assets, and ending blockades affecting key shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian authorities also emphasized that the proposal deliberately excludes nuclear negotiations, indicating that discussions around Iran’s nuclear programme would only take place after the war ends and broader conditions are met.
On the U.S. side, President Donald Trump has publicly expressed skepticism about Tehran’s proposal, suggesting it may not be acceptable in its current form, even as Washington continues to engage through indirect channels.
Despite the cautious tone, the exchange of proposals and responses has raised hopes of a possible diplomatic breakthrough, especially amid mounting global concerns over disrupted oil supplies and escalating regional tensions.
The conflict, which has affected shipping routes and driven up global energy prices, remains volatile, but analysts say continued dialogue, however indirect signals that both sides may still be exploring a negotiated resolution.
