Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has strongly condemned Russia’s latest wave of attacks, describing them as “utter cynicism” after deadly strikes killed at least five people just hours before a planned ceasefire was set to take effect.

According to multiple international reports, the attacks targeted civilian areas across parts of Ukraine, causing casualties and significant damage to infrastructure. Local authorities confirmed that emergency responders were deployed to affected regions, where residential buildings and public facilities were hit.

Zelenskyy accused Russia of deliberately intensifying violence in the final hours leading up to the ceasefire, questioning Moscow’s commitment to de-escalation. In a statement, he argued that such actions undermine any genuine effort toward peace and reflect a pattern of disregard for human life.

The Russian government, led by President Vladimir Putin, has not immediately provided detailed comments on the specific strikes but has previously maintained that its military operations are aimed at strategic targets.

The ceasefire, which had been anticipated as a potential window for humanitarian relief and reduced hostilities, now faces uncertainty amid the renewed violence. Analysts say the latest escalation could further complicate diplomatic efforts and deepen mistrust between both sides.

Since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine War, ceasefire agreements have repeatedly been marred by accusations of violations, with both Kyiv and Moscow trading blame.
