A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has convicted former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, on charges bordering on money laundering.

Justice James Omotosho delivered the judgment on Thursday, finding Mamman guilty on all 12 counts filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The court held that the prosecution successfully proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, establishing the former minister’s culpability in the alleged financial crimes.

Mamman, who served as Minister of Power under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, had been standing trial over allegations of money laundering and diversion of public funds.

Details of the sentencing and further orders of the court were still being awaited at the time of filing this report.

The EFCC had accused the former minister of involvement in financial transactions linked to funds meant for power sector projects.

More details later.
