Youth Coalition Urge Angela Johnson to Enter 2027 Presidential Race

A formidable coalition of over fifty youth-led organizations, student unions, grassroots movements, and civil society advocates nationwide, operating under the name Network of Youth Groups in Nigeria, has issued a passionate call for renowned humanitarian and strategic leader Mrs. Angela Johnson to declare her intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement released from the Abuja secretariat on May 7, 2026, the National Coordinator of the North-West Youth Salvation Front, Comrade Mallam Isah Mohammed, alongside Mr. Tunde Johnson Bakare of the NYGN, said Nigeria demands a mother’s heart, a reformer’s hand, and a strategist’s mind at this critical juncture.

Comrade Mallam Isah Mohammed explained that the coalition identifies four critical national crises demanding urgent leadership: mass unemployment affecting millions of educated young Nigerians, a rising cost of living that has rendered basic survival unattainable, persistent insecurity affecting highways, farmlands, schools and communities, and political exclusion that makes young people mere spectators in governance.

The coalition stated that Mrs. Angela Johnson, a respected legal professional, humanitarian leader, and strategist with a proven track record of advocating for vulnerable communities through international outreach and charitable initiatives, embodies what they call the “Compassion–Competence Advantage.”

Comrade Mallam Isah Mohammed further noted that her consistent commitment to humanity, justice, youth empowerment, and ethical leadership sets her apart from the traditional political establishment.

Speaking further, Comrade Mallam Isah Mohammed declared, “For decades, Nigerians have witnessed the cyclical resurgence of the same political structures, while the populace continues to endure immense suffering. What this nation requires now is not merely another politician, but a reformer endowed with compassion, courage, and unwavering integrity. Mrs. Angela Johnson has unequivocally demonstrated through years of dedicated service that leadership can indeed be humane, responsible, and truly transformational.

She represents a beacon of hope for millions of young Nigerians who are yearning for a new, progressive direction.” The coalition urged Mrs. Johnson to heed what they called a solemn national call to service, pledging that should she accept the historic responsibility, the NYGN would galvanize nationwide grassroots structures, media platforms, youth volunteers, and civic networks toward forging a people-driven movement for national transformation built on competence, compassion, justice, inclusion, and human dignity.
