2027 Elections: El-Rufai Directs Supporters to Back ADC Across Kaduna
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has directed his supporters to vote for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at all levels in the 2027 general elections.
The directive was disclosed by Hajiya Hafsat Baba, ADC National Vice Chairman, North-West, who said the former governor had urged his loyalists to unite and mobilise support for the party across Kaduna State.
Baba made this known during a coalition meeting of support groups loyal to El-Rufai in Kaduna, where she said the gathering was organised to bring the different groups together and coordinate their activities ahead of the elections.
According to her, El-Rufai specifically instructed his supporters to remain united, peaceful and law-abiding while working towards the party’s electoral success.
“Mallam also said I should tell you to remain united because it is only when we are united that we can achieve our goals during the election,” she quoted the former governor as saying.
Baba further disclosed that El-Rufai’s message was for his supporters to vote ADC candidates in the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and state assembly elections.
She said the directive covered all levels of political representation, including the 23 local government areas and wards across Kaduna State.
“We want to tell our people that this is the message from Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, as verified by him: he wants us to vote for ADC at the federal level, state level, local government level, wards, and everywhere across the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State,” she said.
Baba added that the coalition was committed to making Kaduna an ADC stronghold through coordinated mobilisation and sustained engagement with supporters.
She disclosed that the group planned to establish a database of El-Rufai’s supporters across the state and organise regular meetings to strengthen cooperation among the various support groups.
The ADC chieftain also said the supporters intended to sustain what they described as El-Rufai’s legacy, particularly in education, healthcare and empowerment.
“He has already laid the foundation, and it is left for us to continue with his legacy,” she stated.
However, the meeting also featured concerns about insecurity in parts of Kaduna State, particularly Birnin Gwari, Giwa and Millennium City.
Baba called on security agencies to intensify efforts to protect residents, expressing concern over cases of kidnapping and attacks on people going about their lawful activities.
“We cannot afford to have people being kidnapped while they are carrying out their lawful duties,” she said.
She also alleged that more than 30 of El-Rufai’s supporters had been arrested about two weeks before the meeting, questioning what she described as repeated arrests of the former governor’s loyalists.
Baba urged security agencies to remain politically neutral and discharge their responsibilities in accordance with the Constitution.
“They are government officials; they should not take sides, and they have to do their work according to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” she said.
Another ally of the former governor, Ibrahim Hussaini, dismissed suggestions that El-Rufai had lost his political support base, insisting that his loyalists remained active across Kaduna State and other parts of the North.
Hussaini described the former governor’s current circumstances as a test from God and expressed optimism about his political future.
He urged supporters to remain committed and united ahead of the 2027 elections, adding that recent developments had exposed those who were not genuinely loyal to El-Rufai, as some had reportedly left his camp.
The latest mobilisation signals the involvement of El-Rufai’s support groups in ADC’s preparations for the 2027 elections, with the coalition seeking to coordinate its structures across Kaduna State.
