The All Progressives Congress National Assembly Primaries Appeal Committee for Delta State says it has received five petitions following the party’s recently concluded National Assembly primary elections in the state.

Chairman of the committee, Chukwuemeka Ujam, disclosed this while speaking with journalists at the APC secretariat in Asaba on Tuesday.

Ujam said the committee was already reviewing complaints submitted by aggrieved aspirants and party stakeholders concerning the conduct of the primaries.

According to him, the five-member panel was deployed to Delta State in line with the party’s guidelines for the conduct of the National Assembly primary elections.

He explained that the committee initially arrived in the state shortly after the House of Representatives primaries on Sunday and later reconvened following the senatorial district primaries to continue its assignment.

“We have been receiving petitions and we will prepare our reports later. The process is still ongoing because the day is not yet over,” he said.

Speaking on the senatorial primaries, Ujam clarified that the committee’s responsibility was limited to reviewing complaints and assessing the conduct of the exercises rather than determining winners.

“As we receive the petitions, we are already reviewing them and making our notes on each one. But you do not expect me to divulge what we are doing,” he added.

The development comes amid growing political tension and post-primary disputes within several political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
