A U.S. federal judge has sentenced Aimee Bock, the woman accused of masterminding one of the largest COVID-19 fraud schemes in American history, to nearly 42 years in prison for orchestrating a $250 million pandemic relief scam in Minnesota.

Bock, the former executive director of the nonprofit Feeding Our Future, received a sentence of 41 years and eight months after prosecutors said she led a widespread operation that stole funds intended to feed children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to investigators, Feeding Our Future and its partners submitted thousands of fake claims through a federally funded child nutrition program, falsely reporting millions of meals served to children across Minnesota. Authorities said much of the money was instead used to finance luxury lifestyles, including expensive real estate, international travel, jewelry, luxury vehicles, and high-end shopping.

Judge Nancy Brasel described Bock as being at the “epicenter” of the massive fraud operation while delivering the sentence in federal court. Prosecutors had pushed for a 50-year prison term, arguing that the scale of the fraud and abuse of public trust warranted severe punishment.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered Bock to pay approximately $243 million in restitution to the federal government.

The case has become one of the most high-profile pandemic fraud prosecutions in the United States. Federal authorities said more than 70 people have been charged in connection with the scheme, while over 60 defendants have either pleaded guilty or been convicted.

The scandal also triggered criticism of oversight failures within Minnesota’s education and social service systems after questions emerged over how the nonprofit was able to secure and distribute such massive amounts of federal aid with limited scrutiny.
