Security Operatives Launch Manhunt After Abduction of 9-Year-Old in Ondo
A nine-year-old boy, identified as Victor Olaosebikan, has been abducted by suspected gunmen following a violent attack on Igbosi (Ugbosi) Quarters in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday when the armed assailants reportedly stormed the community, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents.
Witnesses said the attackers damaged at least two buildings during the raid, forcing many residents to flee for safety.
The abducted child is the son of Pastor Olaosebikan Isaac, who reportedly escaped into a nearby bush as the attackers invaded the area.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said a coordinated search operation has been launched involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, and other security agencies.
According to him, security operatives are currently combing surrounding forests and access routes in a bid to rescue the victim and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
DSP Jimoh added that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Felix Ohagwu, has directed all tactical and intelligence units to intensify efforts aimed at securing the boy’s release and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The incident has heightened concerns over security in the area, with residents calling for increased protection against criminal attacks.
