‘London Bus Aunty’ Honoured With London Bus Stop Naming, Dabiri-Erewa Celebrates Nigerian Nurse

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated Nigerian-born nurse and social media personality, Bemi Orojuogun, popularly known as “London Bus Aunty,” after a London bus stop was named in her honour.

 

Dabiri-Erewa described the recognition as a remarkable achievement and a source of pride for Nigeria and Nigerians living abroad.

 

In a statement signed by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit of NiDCOM, the NiDCOM chief said Orojuogun’s story demonstrated how passion, authenticity and positive representation of Nigerian heritage could create an impact beyond the country’s shores.

Orojuogun gained popularity through engaging social media videos featuring London’s iconic red buses. Her content highlights everyday experiences in the city while showcasing her distinctive personality and deep interest in London’s transport system.

 

Dabiri-Erewa commended the Nigerian-born nurse for using her platform to entertain and connect with audiences while positively projecting the image of Nigerians in the United Kingdom.

 

She also praised Transport for London (TfL) for recognising Orojuogun’s contribution and celebrating her connection with the city’s transport community.

According to the NiDCOM chairman, the honour further reflects the significant contributions Nigerians continue to make in communities and professional fields across the world.

 

She urged Orojuogun to regard the recognition as encouragement to continue using her influence positively and inspiring others.

 

Dabiri-Erewa assured Nigerians in the diaspora that their achievements and contributions remained a source of pride to Nigeria, regardless of where they live or work.

 

She wished Orojuogun continued success and described the recognition as a well-deserved honour for her contribution to London’s transport community and her positive representation of Nigeria.
