The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has uncovered yet another fake federal agency operating within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The anti-graft agency identified the fraudulent entity as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, which had been illegally allocated office space within the OSGF premises.

The ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, disclosed the discovery while briefing State House correspondents on Friday following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

Aliyu said the fake agency was promoted by one Prince George Buchi Nwabueze, who was discovered to operate under multiple aliases including George Nathan and Honourable George Buchi Nwabueze.

According to the ICPC chairman, the agency operated without presidential authorisation and contrary to extant laws, with suspected collaborators within the SGF’s office.

“The ICPC has engaged with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to gather vital information regarding these unauthorised offices,” Aliyu stated.

President Tinubu has directed the immediate arrest of George Buchi Nwabueze and the immediate suspension of three permanent secretaries identified as M.S. Danjuma, Engr Nadungu Gagare, and Richard P. Pheelangwah.

This latest discovery follows the earlier exposure of the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, whose self-styled Director-General is currently facing prosecution on charges of forgery and impersonation.

The ICPC’s interim report had previously disclosed the existence of two other fictitious bodies, making the National Brands Development office the fourth fake agency uncovered since the PFIPC scandal began.

President Tinubu has also ordered a comprehensive forensic investigation into government processes and internal controls, with the review extending to the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System.
