A Federal High Court sitting in Gusau, Zamfara State, has nullified the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election conducted for the Zamfara North Senatorial District.

The court reportedly ordered the APC to conduct a fresh primary within 14 days.

The judgment followed a suit filed by Dr Abdullahi Sani Shinkafi, who challenged the outcome of the primary, alleging that the exercise was conducted in breach of the party’s guidelines and constitution.

Shinkafi had asked the court to invalidate the primary on the grounds of alleged non-compliance with the rules governing the conduct of the election.

The Federal High Court had earlier fixed August 31, 2026, for judgment in the suit challenging the APC Zamfara North senatorial primary.

The ruling could trigger a fresh contest within the APC in Zamfara North as the party is now expected to comply with the court’s directive and organise another primary within the stipulated 14-day period.
