Bungudu LG Chairman Regains Freedom After 61 Days In Captivity

The Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Nura Abdullahi, has regained his freedom after spending 61 days in captivity.

The Zamfara State Police Command confirmed his release, saying Abdullahi is currently receiving medical attention in Gusau, the state capital.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the development to Arise News, stating that the council chairman was released alongside other persons abducted during the attack.

The victims were reportedly taken to an undisclosed location after the attackers invaded the chairman’s residence in Bungudu town.

Two security personnel attached to the chairman were killed during the attack, while his elder brother, who was also shot, later died in hospital from injuries sustained in the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the chairman’s release and the identity of those behind the abduction were not immediately disclosed.
