Independence Day: Tinubu To Address Nation At 7am Thursday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will address Nigerians at 7 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

The presidential broadcast was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Onanuga directed television and radio stations, as well as other electronic media outlets, to join the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) for the address.

The broadcast will be one of the major activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

Nigeria gained independence from British colonial rule on October 1, 1960.
