2027: Shettima Seeks Northern Creatives’ Support For Tinubu’s Re-Election

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on northern-based professionals in Nigeria’s creative industry to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.

Shettima made the appeal on Wednesday when he received a delegation of Northern Performing Artists under the auspices of Triple-R For Renewed Hope at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign office in Abuja.

The Vice President said the North should support Tinubu’s re-election in the interest of fairness and national unity, while assuring the artists that the administration would continue to support the growth of the creative and entertainment industries in the region.

According to Shettima, the Federal Government’s creative economy initiatives are designed to empower local talent, promote cultural preservation and create economic opportunities for artists, filmmakers and musicians.

He urged the group to remain supportive of the administration and the APC, saying the benefits of the government’s policies and programmes would continue to emerge across different sectors.

The Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, said Tinubu’s re-election campaign would be based on the administration’s record and achievements.

Yari also urged creative industry professionals to disregard claims by political opponents that the North had been excluded from federal appointments and projects, maintaining that the region had been fairly treated by the administration.

Former Katsina State Governor and Deputy Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for Parliamentary Mobilisation, Aminu Bello Masari, thanked the creatives for pledging support for Tinubu and other APC candidates.

Masari said policies of the Tinubu administration were creating opportunities for the creative industry and urged professionals in the sector to take advantage of them to improve their livelihoods.

APC National Chairman and former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, also thanked the group for its support and called for greater investment in infrastructure and training for emerging artists in northern Nigeria.

In his remarks, the President of Triple-R For Renewed Hope, Dauda Kahutu Rarara, pledged the group’s support for Tinubu’s re-election and other APC candidates across the North.

Rarara said northern creatives were committed to supporting the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections, while seeking government assistance to reorganise the creative industry in the region and improve infrastructure and the welfare of practitioners.

The group’s National Chairman, Lawan Ahmad, and Secretary, Ahmad Bifa, separately expressed their readiness to work for the success of Tinubu and APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
