The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has summoned political parties, security agencies, civil society organisations and other key stakeholders to Abuja as the countdown to the 2027 General Election enters its final 100-day stretch.

The electoral commission will hold a World Press Conference and National Stakeholders’ Meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, to brief Nigerians on its preparations for the elections.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, is expected to address the gathering and provide updates on major areas of the electoral process, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures being adopted to protect the integrity of the elections.

The meeting is expected to bring together political party leaders, members of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), diplomats, development partners, civil society organisations, election observers, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth groups and senior media executives.

According to the commission, the engagement is part of efforts to promote transparency, strengthen public communication and foster greater collaboration among stakeholders ahead of the 2027 polls.

The event is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC), Abuja.

INEC said the proceedings would be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed through its official social media platforms.

Only accredited media representatives and invited guests will be admitted to the venue and they are required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.
