Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has condoled with the Nigerian Armed Forces and families of victims of the military aircraft crash in Ondo State.

Adebayo, in a statement issued on Monday by the Head of Media and Communications of his presidential campaign, Comrade Mark Adebayo, described the crash as a national tragedy and a major loss to the country.

He commiserated with the families of the military personnel who lost their lives, as well as the Nigerian Armed Forces, and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased.

The SDP presidential candidate said the nation owed a debt of gratitude to members of the Armed Forces who risk their lives in the service of the country.

Adebayo consequently called on the Federal Government to establish a comprehensive insurance policy for military personnel to ensure that their families are adequately protected and supported in the event of death or other eventualities arising from their service.

He also urged the government and military authorities to make the safety of personnel a priority by ensuring that military aircraft and other equipment receive adequate and modern servicing.

According to him, regular and state-of-the-art maintenance of military hardware would help reduce the risk of avoidable accidents and protect personnel deployed on national security operations.

The SDP candidate expressed solidarity with the Armed Forces at what he described as a difficult moment, while urging the government to take concrete measures to strengthen the welfare and safety of military personnel.
