Adeleke Wins Osun Governorship Election as INEC Declares Accord Party Candidate Victorious

The Independent National Electoral Commission has officially declared the candidate of the Accord Party, Senator Ademola Adeleke, as the winner of the Osun State governorship election.

The announcement was made at the state collation centre in Osogbo, bringing the keenly contested poll to a conclusive end.

According to the final results released by the electoral umpire, Senator Adeleke secured the highest number of valid votes, defeating his closest rivals from the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party.

The Returning Officer for the election confirmed that the Accord Party candidate met the statutory requirement of securing the majority of votes cast and the necessary spread across the local government areas of the state.

In his acceptance speech, Senator Adeleke dedicated the victory to the people of Osun State, describing it as a triumph for the collective will of the electorate.

He commended the security agencies and INEC officials for their roles in ensuring a peaceful electoral process.

The All Progressives Congress candidate has, however, rejected the outcome of the election, alleging widespread irregularities and manipulation of results.

The party has indicated its intention to challenge the declaration in court, citing concerns over the collation process and the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System.

Meanwhile, civil society organisations monitoring the election have called for calm while commending the security forces for their professionalism.

The YEP Nigeria Consortium noted that while the process was largely peaceful, its observers documented incidents of vote buying and voter inducement.

The consortium has urged all parties to maintain peace and allow the rule of law to prevail as the legal process unfolds.
