APC Ticket Confirmed: Shettima Thanks Tinubu After Re-Emerging as Running Mate for 2027

Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu after the All Progressives Congress (APC) officially retained him as the President’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election, ending months of speculation over the party’s ticket.

Shettima visited President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja shortly after the announcement, where the two leaders held a brief meeting.

Footage released by presidential videographer Sunday Moses showed the Vice President warmly greeting the President before both men proceeded into the President’s office.

During the meeting, Shettima thanked Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him and for the opportunity to continue serving as Vice President and the APC’s vice-presidential candidate in the next general election.

The confirmation brings to a close prolonged uncertainty over whether President Tinubu would retain Shettima on the ruling party’s ticket, amid widespread political speculation in recent months.

President Tinubu had consistently dismissed the speculation, publicly reaffirming his confidence in Shettima on several occasions, including at the APC National Summit in 2025.

The APC’s decision officially cements the Tinubu-Shettima ticket for the 2027 presidential race as the party begins preparations for the next general election.
