DELSU Will Remain a Leading University, VC Asagba Assures
The Vice-Chancellor of Delta State University, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to sustaining its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading universities.
Speaking during a recent address, Asagba said the university is focused on consolidating its academic excellence, research output, and infrastructural development to remain competitive both nationally and globally.
He noted that DELSU has made significant strides in recent years, particularly in improving the quality of teaching, expanding research initiatives, and strengthening its academic programmes. According to him, these efforts have contributed to the university’s growing recognition within Nigeria’s higher education sector.
The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that the institution’s leadership is determined to build on existing achievements by investing in modern facilities, promoting innovation, and fostering collaborations with local and international partners.
He also highlighted the importance of discipline, staff development, and student engagement in maintaining high academic standards, stressing that the university would not relent in its pursuit of excellence.
Asagba further assured stakeholders, including students, staff, and alumni, that the management remains committed to creating a conducive learning environment that supports both academic and personal growth.
He added that DELSU would continue to align its policies with global best practices in higher education while addressing emerging challenges in the sector.
The statement comes amid increasing competition among Nigerian universities seeking to improve rankings, attract research funding, and produce graduates equipped for a rapidly evolving global economy.
