DELTA POLICE COMMAND RECOVERS 16 AK-47 RIFLES IN STRATEGIC OPERATIONS

The Delta State Police Command has announced the recovery of 16 AK-47 rifles in different strategic operations across the state’s three senatorial districts between January and May this year. According to the Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, the command’s special crack team made the recoveries possible through effective policing and intelligence gathering.

Apart from the AK-47 rifles, the police also recovered other light weapons from suspects, hardened criminals, and their partners in crime. CP Abaniwonda attributed the success to the unwavering support and encouragement from the Governor and Chief Security Officer of Delta State, Dr. Sheriff Oborevwori, describing him as a pragmatic leader and team player.
“We need the support of everyone to tackle security challenges in the state,” CP Abaniwonda said. “Delta remains one of the safest states in Nigeria, with a robust economy, which is why there is a population surge in the state capital and across the three senatorial districts.”

The police commissioner urged Deltans and other residents to provide useful information that could help the command improve its primary duty of protecting life and property. He commended the Commander of the State Command’s Special Assignment Team, ASP Julius Robinson, and his team members for their bravery, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
“ASP Julius Robinson and his team have been instrumental in the arrest of several hardened criminal elements and the recovery of 16 AK-47 rifles and other light weapons,” CP Abaniwonda said. “We recognize their efforts and selfless service with an Award of Excellence for bravery.”
The police chief also called on the state government, corporate bodies, and well-meaning individuals to appreciate and recognize the selfless service of ASP Robinson and his team members. Meanwhile, the command has deployed tactical teams to Abraka to tackle the recent wave of kidnapping and security breaches in the area.
“We are tackling the situation headlong with our gallant officers and men stationed at strategic locations in the university town of Abraka and environs,” CP Abaniwonda said, assuring citizens of the command’s commitment to providing adequate security.
