Enugu Air Aircraft Suffers Landing Incident at Benin Airport, Passengers Evacuated Safely

An aircraft operated by Enugu Air was involved in a landing incident at the Benin Airport on Thursday after reportedly suffering a tyre failure on touchdown, prompting the safe evacuation of passengers.

Videos circulating on social media showed passengers disembarking from the aircraft while one of its tyres appeared to have detached or been severely damaged. There was no immediate confirmation of casualties or injuries.

Initial reports described the occurrence as a crash landing. However, as of press time, aviation authorities had not officially classified the incident, and the circumstances surrounding the landing were still being assessed.

Neither Enugu Air nor the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), or the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) had issued an official statement on the incident at the time of filing this report.

Enugu Air, owned by the Enugu State Government, commenced commercial operations in July 2025 and operates domestic flights to several Nigerian cities.
