Ex-AFAN President Kabir Faskari Dies in Turkey After Surgery Complications

Architect Kabir Ibrahim Faskari, former President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), has died in Turkey.

Faskari, who was also the Chairman of the Agriculture Business Group, reportedly died in Istanbul following complications arising from prostate surgery.

A close friend of the deceased, who confirmed the development, said some of Faskari’s associates had recently visited him in Istanbul and spoke with him shortly before returning to Nigeria.

The source said Faskari subsequently developed complications after the surgery.

Another source disclosed that the former AFAN president would be buried in Turkey, although details of the burial arrangements were not immediately available.

Faskari was a prominent voice in Nigeria’s agricultural sector, particularly on issues concerning farmers, food production, poultry farming and agricultural business.

His leadership of AFAN and PAN placed him at the forefront of advocacy for farmers and agricultural producers, while he frequently engaged the media on challenges facing Nigeria’s food and agriculture sector.

He was also known for offering insights into issues including food security, agricultural productivity and the challenges confronting farmers and agribusinesses across the country.

His death is expected to leave a significant void in Nigeria’s agricultural advocacy space, where he had remained an influential voice for several years.
