President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Sunday depart Abuja for Europe to commence a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave.

According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s first destination will be London, United Kingdom.

The statement, dated August 30, 2026, did not disclose the President’s other planned destinations during the vacation.

Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria at the end of the three-week break and resume official engagements, including preparations for the political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

His return is also expected to coincide with an increasingly active political season as parties and political actors intensify mobilisation ahead of the January 2027 elections.

The Presidency described the trip as part of the President’s annual leave, with no indication that it is connected to any official foreign engagement.

The President’s departure comes amid heightened political activities across the country, with the 2027 elections expected to dominate the national political landscape in the months ahead.
