Federal Government, States, Local Governments Share N2.257 Trillion April Revenue

The Federation Account Allocation Committee has shared a total of N2.257 trillion in revenue for April 2026 among the federal government, states, and local government councils. The distribution was approved at the May 2026 FAAC meeting held in Abuja, with the communiqué released on Monday, June 15, 2026.

The total distributable revenue comprised N1.260 trillion in statutory revenue, N747.088 billion from Value Added Tax, and N250 billion in augmentation. According to the communiqué, total gross revenue available for April stood at N3.184 trillion, with N113.756 billion deducted as cost of collection and N813.839 billion set aside for transfers, refunds, and savings.

Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, confirmed the figures in a statement. “Gross statutory revenue of N2.378 trillion was received for the month of April 2026. This was higher than the sum of N1.699 trillion received in the preceding month by N678.224 billion,” Mokwa stated . He added that gross VAT revenue of N806.617 billion was available in April, exceeding the N664.425 billion recorded in March by N142.192 billion.

From the total distributable revenue, the federal government received N787.351 billion, state governments received N772.360 billion, and local government councils received N540.152 billion . Oil-producing states received N157.254 billion as 13 percent derivation revenue from mineral earnings.

A breakdown of the statutory revenue allocation showed the federal government receiving N580.942 billion, states receiving N294.661 billion, and local governments receiving N227.172 billion . From the VAT pool, the federal government got N74.709 billion, states received N410.898 billion, and local governments received N261.481 billion. The N250 billion augmentation was shared with the federal government receiving N131.700 billion, states receiving N66.800 billion, and local governments receiving N51.500 billion.

The committee noted significant increases in Companies Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Stamp Duties, Import Duty, Oil and Gas Royalties, and VAT during the month. However, Petroleum Profit Tax and Hydrocarbon Tax declined considerably, while Excise Duty and CET Levies decreased marginally.
