FG VOWS SWIFT RESCUE OF ABDUCTED KEBBI SCHOOLGIRLS, REAFFIRMS DUTY TO PROTECT CITIZENS

The Federal Government has expressed deep concern and solidarity with the families of female students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School in Maga, located in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safe return of the schoolgirls following the recent attack.

Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris said in a statement that the government shares in the pain of the families and is firmly dedicated to bringing the girls home safely. He conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reiteration that protecting every Nigerian, especially schoolchildren, remains a solemn responsibility of the State. The government condemned the reprehensible attack on innocent students and the killing of school officials who were performing their noble duties.

Idris emphasized that security and intelligence agencies have received clear directives to locate, rescue, and safely return the students, while ensuring that the perpetrators face justice. He stated that the Federal Government will not relent until this objective is achieved. The minister also assured Nigerians that strengthening internal security is a top priority, with efforts underway to recalibrate the nation’s military, policing, and intelligence capabilities to more effectively prevent attacks and respond with greater speed and precision.

Additionally, Idris highlighted that Nigeria is reinforcing cooperation with regional partners through ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Multinational Joint Task Force to secure borders and disrupt terrorist and criminal networks. He urged the public to remain calm and confident in the government’s actions.
