Governor Yusuf Joins Fellow First-Term Governors to Endorse Tinubu’s Second-Term Bid..backs Renewed Hope Agenda, urges Nigerians to remain steadfast despite economic reforms

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has joined other first-term governors across the country in declaring support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 and the continuation of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued after a meeting of 15 first-term governors held in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The communiqué, read by the host governor, Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, said the governors unanimously resolved to support President Tinubu’s second-term bid, citing the need for courageous leadership, policy continuity and stronger collaboration between the Federal and State Governments.

Governor Yusuf and his counterparts acknowledged the economic sacrifices Nigerians have made as a result of ongoing reforms but maintained that the measures are necessary to stabilise the economy, restore public finances, attract investment, strengthen productivity and improve national security.

They appealed to Nigerians to look beyond the current hardship and remain committed to the reform agenda, expressing confidence that it would deliver lasting economic recovery, shared prosperity and democratic stability.

The governors also expressed concern over terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and attacks on schools, pledging closer collaboration with security agencies, traditional institutions and local communities to improve security and safeguard lives and property.

They further condemned the reported attacks and hostility against Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa, calling on the South African authorities to protect law-abiding residents and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

The meeting was attended by the governors of Kano, Jigawa, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Ondo, Taraba, Delta, Ekiti, Kogi, Benue, Ebonyi, Edo and Plateau states.
