A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Tein Jack-Rich, has formally declared his intention to contest the Rivers West Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, calling on the party leadership to recognise and reward loyal founding members.

Jack-Rich made the declaration on Wednesday during the submission of his expression of interest and nomination forms at Treasure Suites Conference Hall.

The APC stalwart said his decision to join the race was driven by years of commitment and loyalty to the party since its formative years.

“I have been a member of this party since 2014, when many people did not believe in it. I stood firm in 2019, remained active in 2023, and I am here again,” he said.

He stressed the need for the party to balance the influx of new members with the protection of long-serving loyalists who contributed to building the APC structure.

“It is important to recognise and respect legacy members who have been there from inception. You must hold your biological child dearly, even while adopting new ones,” he stated.

Jack-Rich also expressed concern over what he described as attempts by new entrants to sideline established party members.

“Today, we see people coming in aggressively and trying to push us out. We will not accept it. Growth is good for democracy, but it must not come at the expense of those who built the foundation,” he added.

The APC chieftain expressed confidence ahead of the party primaries, saying he would work hard to secure the party’s ticket and emerge victorious in the general election.

“I have submitted my forms, and I will work hard through the primaries. I strongly believe I will win the senate seat. Rivers West will be great again,” he said.

Highlighting his qualifications, Jack-Rich pointed to his more than 28 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, which he said positions him to effectively represent the senatorial district.

“Rivers West needs a senator who understands the oil sector and can support national policies with practical ideas while being a strong voice for our people,” he noted.

Describing Rivers West as “the oil bank of Nigeria,” he emphasized the need for strong legislative representation capable of unlocking the district’s economic potential.

Meanwhile, one of his supporters, Adolphus Mike Ejah, praised Jack-Rich’s contributions to the oil and gas sector, saying his achievements have elevated the profile of Rivers State globally and earned him wide support within the industry.
