According to DSP Abubakar Aliyu, the command spokesman, “The news making the rounds that a medical doctor shot dead at Kankara General Hospital is not true.” Aliyu confirmed that Dr. Sale-Dandashire was shot by the bandits but is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina.

The bandits had attacked the hospital, shooting the doctor and abducting three persons. The police spokesman said that efforts are being made to arrest the perpetrators and rescue the abducted victims.

The initial report of the doctor’s death had sparked widespread outrage and sadness on social media, with many Nigerians mourning the loss of a young and talented medical professional. However, the confirmation of his survival has brought relief and joy to many.
