The Nigerian military on Wednesday conducted a solemn burial ceremony for Brigadier General Omo Braimo, Captain Ismail, and other soldiers killed in a recent attack by Boko Haram insurgents.

The ceremony, held at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri, Borno State, was marked by grief, honour, and deep reflection as the fallen officers were laid to rest with full military honours.

Family members, colleagues, and top government officials gathered to pay their last respects to the deceased, whose deaths underscore the ongoing sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces in the fight against insurgency.

Among dignitaries present were Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, alongside other senior military officers.

In their tributes, the leaders described the fallen soldiers as courageous patriots who remained steadfast in the face of danger and paid the ultimate price in service to the nation. They noted that the bravery and commitment of the deceased would continue to inspire future generations.

Prayers were offered for the repose of their souls, while citations detailing their service records were read in the presence of their families. The emotional atmosphere reflected both the pride in their service and the pain of their loss.

The military reiterated its commitment to honouring the sacrifices of its personnel and sustaining efforts to combat insurgency and restore lasting peace in affected regions.

The burial serves as a stark reminder of the human cost of Nigeria’s security challenges and the enduring dedication of those who serve on the frontlines.
