Discharged Nigerian soldiers have resumed their protest in Abuja, demanding immediate payment of their long-overdue entitlements. Despite a previous agreement with government officials, the ex-servicemen claim that promises made to them were not fulfilled, forcing them to take to the streets once again.

“We had no choice but to return to the streets because the promises made to us were never fulfilled,” said Mama G, one of the protesters. “This time around, the protest will be massive.” The protesters gathered at the Ministry of Finance headquarters, accusing the authorities of neglect and failing to honor the agreement reached last month.

The ex-soldiers have been demanding payment of their entitlements for years, and this latest protest is part of a long-standing struggle for fair treatment. As the situation stands, the Ministry of Defence, Defence Headquarters, and the Military Pension Board have yet to issue an official statement in response to the protest.
