NCIS URGES MEMBERS TO VERIFY MOTOR VEHICLE INSURANCE ON NCIS PORTAL

The National Cooperative Insurance Society of Nigeria Limited (NCIS) has advised its members to verify their motor vehicle insurance on the NCIS portal, rather than on the platform of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA). Adetokunbo Adesanya, a director in NCIS, stated that the organization’s motor insurance is cooperative, not commercial, and therefore should not be verified on the NIIT platform.

Adesanya, speaking at a press conference held at the NUJ FCT Secretariat in Abuja said, “Once a certificate is on the NCIS portal, it is valid. And if there is a claim, in no time, we settle it immediately. That is why we are in business, that is why we are in existence.” He also emphasized that members should politely refer stakeholders, including the police and road safety officers, to the NCIS portal for verification.

Corp Commander Adetunji Oke of the Department of Motor Vehicle Administration, FRSC, also spoke at the press conference, stating that the FRSC ensures that all insurance companies operate valid insurance policies. He encouraged all motorists to key into the NCIS insurance policy, which he has personally verified and found to be already on the FRSC portal.

The NCIS is a cooperative insurance body created pursuant to the Nigerian Cooperative Societies Act, 1994, and regulated by the Federal Department of Cooperatives. Its mandate is to insure cooperatives and their dependents. The organization offers insurance products and services for low- to medium-income business owners and private individuals.
