Ogbeide-Ihama Campaign Organisation Reaffirms Commitment to Issue-Based Campaigns, Rejects Politics of Calumny
The Rt. Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama Campaign Organisation has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to peaceful, responsible and issue-based political campaigns, insisting that its candidate will not be drawn into politics of calumny, insults or personal attacks.
In a statement signed by the Head Planning/Strategy, Jeffrey Omon Ozemegwa, the campaign organisation said its philosophy has always been centred on communicating ideas, presenting solutions and demonstrating the capacity to deliver, rather than engaging in personal attacks, name-calling, mudslinging or the denigration of other candidates.

The statement was issued on behalf of Rt. Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, the campaign organisation stated that it is ready to focus more on a campaign philosophy that relates to the people of Edo South.
Ozemegwa stated that for the candidate, this approach is a reflection of his upbringing, family heritage and deeply held values.
He noted that Rt. Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama’s family lineage has its extensive roots spread across Hama of Ihogbe, Ero of Urubi, Oshodin of Oloke, Lawani of Uhi, Evbuesi and Ighuogho lines, representing a heritage and responsibility he holds dearly, stressing that he will never sacrifice the values, norms and principles upon which he was raised on the altar of political ambition.
Ozemegwa added that having served two terms as the representative of Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama believes his record, experience, legislative contributions and vision provide a compelling basis for his candidacy, and that the campaign is therefore focused on showcasing his works, capacity, communicating his manifesto and presenting what Edo South stands to gain from his representation in the Senate.
The campaign organisation emphasised that the people of Edo South deserve to hear about the antecedence, ideas, policies and practical solutions candidates have to offer, not be distracted by unnecessary political hostilities.
It consequently encouraged all supporters, associates, campaign volunteers and well-wishers to uphold these values by refraining from insults, personal attacks, inflammatory rhetoric, mudslinging and violence.
Ozemegwa said the responsibility of the campaign is to sell the candidate’s past performance in Oredo, his vision and convince the electorate through the strength of its message, declaring that the organisation is running a campaign of ideas, not insults; a campaign of solutions, not sentiments; and a campaign built on capacity and vision, not character assassination.
He expressed confidence in the campaign’s positive and clean history, hence its demand that campaigns be issue-based.
The Ogbeide-Ihama Campaign Organisation reiterated that it remains committed to a peaceful, respectful and issue-based campaign, urging all concerned to focus on the issues, sell the vision and let values guide their politics.
