Operation FANSAN YAMMA Troops Rescue Abducted Soldier, Civilian During Offensive in Zamfara

Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued an abducted soldier and a civilian during a fighting patrol against terrorist hideouts in Zamfara State.

The rescue operation was carried out on the morning of Wednesday, July 29, during an offensive patrol by troops deployed at Gwashi, according to a statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.

The military said the troops successfully rescued Lance Corporal Basiru Labbo, who was abducted by terrorists on July 22 along the Zuru–Anka Road, as well as Lauwali Dan Ada, a civilian from Kasahola Village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to the statement, the victims were found during operations at a terrorist enclave and safely evacuated to a military location.

The rescued soldier and civilian have since undergone debriefing, medical examination and other administrative procedures, the military said.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups while intensifying efforts to rescue victims of abduction and restore security across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.

The Joint Task Force also reiterated its resolve to continue coordinated military operations aimed at protecting lives, dismantling criminal hideouts and improving security in the region.
